Project 1

This week, I explored paper weaving through three different exercises. For the first exercise, I focused on understanding the basic weaving technique and how the repetition of paper strips could create a consistent visual pattern.

For the second exercise, I was given the words “cloud” and “change.”

I looked for some images related to these two words and used them as references for my collage.   I cut some of the paper into cloud shapes and mixed them with the woven pieces.

I also tried layering different materials and shapes to make the composition more interesting.

For the final exercise, we worked in a group and focused on an ocean theme.  We each made different ocean-related elements using paper weaving and collage.  We then put all the elements together to create the final composition.  Through this activity, I learned how different ideas and styles can be combined in a group project.
